Summary

Job Description

Based at Angus House, Orchardbank Business Park, Forfar.

This job is workstyle 5 - Hybrid+

You will have the opportunity to benefit from our flexible and agile working practices. This means you will work from home for part of your week and spend some time in council buildings to best suit your work, meetings and collaboration.

Are you naturally inquisitive?

Do you have a desire to make a difference and help improve public services?

You may be an experienced auditor or you may be looking to begin or change your career. We offer a career pathway and training to gain the Institute of Internal Audit’s Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) qualification (see attached person specification / career grade structure).

The opportunity to join our Internal Audit team in this part-time job could be the role for you. Our team provides assurance, insight and advice across all council services, helping to deliver on the council’s priorities for Angus citizens and ensure our resources are used efficiently and effectively.

Reporting to the Team Leader – Internal Audit, you will assist in the delivery of the council’s Internal Audit service, which is a statutory function and a fundamental element of the council’s governance and assurance framework. Our philosophy is adding value, and we aim to bring a systematic and disciplined approach to evaluating and improving the effectiveness of the council’s internal control, risk management and governance processes through the provision of independent, objective assurance and advisory activity.

An inquiring and open mind and attention to detail, whilst recognising the bigger picture, all contribute to developing the audit skills required to analyse systems and processes to confirm they are fit for purpose or to offer practical solutions to improve them.

You must have the ability to obtain a satisfactory Level 1 Disclosure certificate.

If you have any queries regrading this vacancy, please email Cathie Wyllie, Service Leader – Internal Audit, at WyllieC@angus.gov.uk

Please note interviews will be held Tuesday, 21 October 2025.
