About WMC/Our Department:
The Business Operations team is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Security Operations Manager to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will lead and oversee all aspects of security operations, ensuring the safety and integrity of our organisation’s assets and information.
This is an unusual opportunity to join a fast-paced team, taking management responsibility for the safety of high-profile events in one of the UK’s most iconic buildings.
It’s an exciting time to join the team as we transition into the implementation of Martyn’s Law and have recently hosted multiple events as a venue of choice for many of Wales’s high-profile visits.
About the Role and Responsibilities:
The position of Security Operations Manager sits within the Business Operations department and plays a key role in ensuring that a safe and secure environment is provided across the Wales Millennium Centre site for all customers, visitors, staff, residents and retailers. The Manager is responsible for managing a team of 12 contracted security staff and the contract of an outsourced security provision that covers a 24/7 period. This position plays a critical role in maintaining compliance across the team by overseeing adherence to licensing requirements and training protocols, and the day-to-day management of staff as well as future planning for the security team ensuring the business is leading the way with all security and event legislation.
The Manager works across the whole Business Operations department and fits into the role of responsible person on site. This role requires someone with proven strong leadership skills and the ambition to drive the team and the organisation forward in line with the WMC’s strategic vision ensuring high standards are always a priority on site.
Your role will be subject to a DBS check before you start.


Key Requirements:
Management duties: -
1. To be the point of contact for the Security Team should absence from the zero hours team/Agency not be possible
2. To cover any hours that cannot be covered by the Security zero hours team/Security agency
3. To proactively manage team training to a high standard including the mandatory WMC e-learning system and ensuring the security team are up to date with legislation from NACTSO/NCA and the SIA
4. To manage security rosters and administration responsibilities for the teams
5. To manage all compliance for the security department ensuring security legislation is abided by and all SIA licenses are in place, in date and accurately recorded for compliance and auditing.
6. Responsibility for leading on the introduction of the Martyn’s Law legislation coming into effect in 2025.
7. Ensure seamless delivery of security for all events, taking a proactive approach to the delivery of such service.
