The Aldingbourne Trust delivers a variety of funded programmes aimed at empowering individuals within local communities. The Connect to Work programme supports residents who face barriers to employment—whether due to long-term unemployment, disability, health conditions, or other challenges—helping them move towards and maintain meaningful, paid work.
About the Role
As a Connect to Work Adviser, you will play a key role in supporting eligible individuals to secure and sustain employment that aligns with their goals and abilities. You’ll manage a caseload, offering tailored, person-centred advice and guidance, while also building strong relationships with local employers to create suitable job opportunities.
Key responsibilities include:
Supporting individuals into sustainable employment and providing job retention support.
Conducting vocational assessments and developing action plans.
Engaging with the community to generate referrals and promote the programme.
Collaborating with employers to identify and negotiate appropriate roles.
Maintaining accurate records and using digital tools to track progress.
This is a ‘work first’ intervention programme, focused on helping people overcome barriers and achieve long-term employment success.
About You
You’ll bring:
Proven experience in employer engagement and job brokerage.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build trust with clients and employers.
Confidence in negotiating job roles tailored to individual strengths and preferences.
Experience managing a caseload and conducting regular progress reviews.
A commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusive practices.
Excellent IT skills, including Microsoft Office and online platforms like Teams.
The ability to work independently and collaboratively, with a proactive and flexible approach.
Must be a driver with own car
Knowledge and experience
Essential
Strong employer engagements skills to support job search activities, with experience of employability, employment support and supporting people with barriers, especially those with learning disabilities/autism/neurodivergence.
Experience of working with vulnerable adults
Excellent IT skills – be able to use customer databases as well as being proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word and online communication platforms (including Teams).
Desirable
Experience of using and/or understanding of Individual Placement Support (IPS) and/or Supported Employment Quality Framework (SEQF)
Experience of using a coaching model to support a cohort of clients.
Familiarity with and understanding of Access to Work, reasonable adjustments and the commercial constraints of local employers.
Locations
Locations to be cover, a confident driver is a must, Crawley, Chichester, Worthing, Horsham, Littlehampton, Bognor Regis (including but not limited to).
