FULL TRAINING PROVIDED

Ideally, you’ll have a history of working in an engineering environment, although this isn’t essential as full training will be provided.

In a manufacturing and engineering environment, the role of a Works Operative / Production Operative is a hands-on, vital position that keeps the whole operation running smoothly. A large part of the job involves skilled, practical engineering tasks. This means you'll be getting stuck in with everything from deburring and countersinking to drilling and fitting inserts, all of which are crucial for ensuring components meet the company’s high standards.

Working as the Works Operative / Production Operative your role will be varied. One minute you'll be receiving new stock and processing it in the warehouse, the next you'll be packing up goods and creating dispatch labels for customers. You'll enter delivery details into the system for the company’s own van deliveries and liaising with external couriers to ensure everything gets where it needs to go.

DUTIES

Your duties as a Works Operative / Production Operative include:

• Engineering & Production: You'll be getting hands-on with a variety of general engineering tasks. This includes deburring, fitting inserts, and drilling, along with countersinking and manual routing, all to ensure the products are made to the highest standards

• Logistics & Dispatch: A crucial part of your role will be preparing goods for customers. This involves creating dispatch labels and carefully packing items for dispatch

• Warehouse Operations: You will be responsible for receipting incoming goods and materials, then processing them correctly within the warehouse. You will also liaise with the office to order essential warehouse consumables like boxes and tape, ensuring the warehouse always have what’s needed

• Delivery Coordination: You will support the delivery chain. For orders delivered by the company’s own vans, you will enter customer and delivery details into the system. You'll also be responsible for arranging external couriers for other deliveries

• Forklift & Safety: You'll get the chance to operate a forklift to move materials around the warehouse, and a current licence is a bonus, but not essential. You'll also be a core part of our team's commitment to safety, maintaining high levels of health & safety at all times, including conducting forklift checks and acting as a fire marshal (training will be provided for both).

• Housekeeping: You will be expected to maintain high levels of housekeeping throughout the warehouse to ensure it remains a safe and efficient place to work


CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

• Practical Engineering Skills: A history of working in an engineering environment is preferred, with hands-on experience in tasks such as deburring, drilling, countersinking, fitting inserts, and manual routing (Desirable)

• Warehouse & Logistics Knowledge: The ability to handle incoming goods, manage inventory, and prepare items for dispatch is essential. This includes packing goods and creating accurate dispatch labels

• Administrative & IT Literacy: You'll need to be comfortable with administrative tasks, specifically entering customer and delivery details into a digital system

• Forklift Operation: A current forklift licence is advantageous but not essential, as training can be provided (Desirable)

• Health & Safety Awareness: A strong commitment to maintaining high levels of health and safety is required. You must be willing to undergo training for tasks like forklift checks and fire marshal duties

• Organisational & Communication Skills: You should be able to keep a tidy and efficient workspace, as high standards of housekeeping are a must. You'll also need to liaise with office staff to manage warehouse supplies and arrange courier services
