Summary
A Vacancy at Northern Lincolnshire & Goole NHS Foundation Trust.
The Children's Ward, the Neonatal Unit and the Maternity and Gynaecology wards, are located in the purpose built Department of Family Services, which opened in July 2004 within the hospital grounds. Delivery rate is approximately 2,700 per year, and the Neonatal Unit has three Intensive Care Cots and one High dependency cot. Babies below 27 weeks or those requiring cardiac intervention or neonatal surgery are currently transferred. Our Neonatal Service is part of Yorkshire & Humber ODN (South) and our unit is designated as a local Neonatal Unit (LNU) or level 2 Unit . The Unit has state of the art monitoring and life support equipment. Two Advanced Neonatal Nurse Practitioners are currently in post.
A Labour, Delivery, Recovery and Post-Partum (LDRP) Model of Midwifery Care is provided in our Maternity Services. Hospital based Newborn Hearing Screening Programme is delivered by a team of dedicated hearing screeners.
As a senior employee of the Trust the post-holder will work in close co-operation with, and support, other clinical, medical, professional and managerial colleagues in providing high quality healthcare to the Trust’s patients.
Integral to the responsibilities of the post are the following requirements:-
· To ensure the provision of a first-class clinical service
· To provide effective leadership to junior doctors and medical students
· To undertake all work in accordance with the Trust’s procedures and operating policies
· To conduct clinical practice in accordance with contractual requirements and within the parameters of the Trust’s and Operational Group’s services plans
· To undertake all work in accordance with the Trust’s procedures and operating policies
· To provide effective leadership while supporting the SHO’s and nurse practitioners in assessing and managing patients from acute paediatric admissions, outpatients, labour ward, postnatal and neonatal unit.
· Participate in consultant led ward rounds and occasionally lead ward rounds.
· Attend clinics to maintain a high standard of first-class clinical service and care and ensure continuity of service.
· Undertake administrative duties as required for the efficient running of the service.
· Partake in additional duties in occasional emergencies and unforeseen circumstances

The post would suit a good team player dedicated to high quality patient care. The opportunity exists to work in a non-hierarchical setting and offer a wide range of Paediatric procedures in this busy DGH. The ability to match a personal special interest with service requirements will be essential. As will the commitment to a high quality service in terms of clinical care, communication and team dynamics. The post holder will also bethe Neonatal Lead for the teamat Grimsby, and be responsible for development of the Neonatal Services and introduction of new management techniques.
The post holders will be expected to fulfil the requirements of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health regarding Audit and CME.
It is expected that the post holders will participate in the teaching of nurse practitioners, junior doctors, nursing staff and medical students from Sheffield and Hull York Medical Schools.
So far as is consistent with the proper discharge of the above duties, the post holder undertakes to deputise from time to time for absent colleagues in accordance with the Terms and Conditions of Service.
The post holder accepts to also perform additional duties in occasional emergencies and unforeseen circumstances at the request of the appropriate Consultant in consultation where applicable, with his colleagues.
The post holder undertakes, exceptionally, to be available for such irregular commitments outside normal duties as are essential for continuity of patient care.
The post holder will be expected to attend the regular Multi-Disciplinary Audit Meetings.
Research-opportunities may be provided for research under the guidance of Consultants. The post holder will be encouraged to undertake skill-based courses as appropriate.
