Job Title: Salaried General Practitioner Locations: Bampton (main site) & Carterton (branch), Oxfordshire Reports to: GP Partners / Practice Manager Contract type: Permanent (flexible) Sessions: 28 sessions per week (flexible rota) Salary: £11,400£12,000 per session DOE (BMA model contract), NHS Pension Leave:6 weeks annual leave (pro-rata) + 1 weeks study leave About the Practice We are a friendly, supportive practice serving ~9,300 patients across a modern, purpose-built surgery in Bampton and a nearby branch in Carterton. We are part of Rural West PCN and work closely with our ARRS colleagues. Our culture is collaborative and quality-focused, with safe workload limits (24 patient contacts/day), 15-minute appointments and protected admin time. Team 2 GP Partners; 5 Salaried GPs (2 vacancies); 5 Nurses; Nursing Associate & HCAs; ARRS team (First Contact Physio, Paramedic/ANP, Clinical Pharmacists, Mental Health Worker, Health & Wellbeing Counsellor). Early Visiting Service covers most home visits. No care-home caseload and no extended hours requirement. Clinical Systems & Tools EMIS Web, Docman, AccuRx, iGPR. Ardens templates used for standardised documentation, coding and QOF/compliance. Training provided where needed (including Docman, EMIS and Practice Index). Role Purpose Provide high-quality, patient-centred primary care across both sites, contributing to continuity, safety and effectiveness of clinical services, while supporting service development and the wider multidisciplinary team. Key Responsibilities Provide routine and urgent GP consultations (face-to-face, telephone, online): assess, diagnose, treat, safety-net and follow up. Manage long-term conditions and medication reviews in line with NICE/local guidance; deprescribing where appropriate. Review pathology/results, documents, repeat prescriptions and patient queries within protected admin time. Make timely referrals and coordinate care with the MDT and external services. Contribute to QOF/IIF, safeguarding, audits, SEAs, clinical governance and CQC compliance. Use Ardens templates to support safe, consistent documentation and accurate coding. Occasional home visits (EVS covers the majority); no routine duty-doctor or extended hours. Support practice and PCN initiatives (e.g., access, LTC pathways, vaccination) and teaching/supervision if interested. Uphold infection prevention, information governance and equality, diversity & inclusion standards. Workload & Rota 24 patient contacts per clinical day, 15-minute appointments. Dedicated admin time; rare home visits; travel between sites as required (mileage reimbursed per policy). Induction, Support & Development Structured local induction to systems, policies and teams. Regular appraisals and CPD support; study leave entitlement as above. Opportunities to develop special interests (clinical or leadership). Partnership may be considered once established, if mutually desired. Person Specification (summary) Essential: GMC registration with licence to practise; right to work in the UK; NHS primary care experience; sound clinical decision-making; commitment to teamwork, governance and patient-centred care; competence with EMIS (or willingness to learn). Desirable: Special interest (e.g., LTCs, womens health, minor surgery, teaching); experience with Ardens/AccuRx/iGPR. Safeguarding & Pre-employment Enhanced DBS (or update service), occupational health clearance and satisfactory references required.
