Tower Hamlets Council is seeking a seasoned Mechanical Project Engineer to lead delivery of key capital works within the Leisure Capital Programme and support a separately funded capital improvement initiative. This is a high-profile interim role within the Housing and Regeneration Directorate, offering the chance to shape infrastructure that directly impacts community wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead mechanical and electrical project delivery across leisure and housing capital programmes
Oversee planning, procurement, contractor management, and on-site execution
Ensure compliance with technical standards, health & safety, and council governance
Collaborate with internal teams, external consultants, and stakeholders to meet programme milestones
Provide strategic input into capital investment planning and risk mitigation
✅ Essential Criteria:
Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline
Extensive experience in construction project management, ideally within public sector capital programmes
Strong technical knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems in leisure or housing environments
Proven ability to manage budgets, timelines, and multidisciplinary teams
Chartered status (MIMechE) desirable or pending
DBS check not required for this role.
