Summary

Job Description

Live Life Aberdeenshire’s Cultural Services is delighted to offer this opportunity to join the team at an exciting time of development.

Aberdeenshire Council’s Museums Service is taking part in ‘Going Places’, an Art Fund programme made possible with generous support from The National Lottery Heritage Fund and the Julia Rausing Trust. Going Places aims to engage and involve underrepresented audiences with museum collections through high quality, collaborative touring exhibitions and public programmes. This role has been made possible through the programme.

We are looking to recruit a creative, passionate, forward thinking team player to drive forward the work of the New Faces New Focus network, a partnership between Aberdeenshire Council, Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council, Northern Ireland and Open Eye Gallery, Liverpool. The network will use socially engaged photography to connect newly formed and isolated communities with their historic collections.

The Learning and Access Officer is responsible for building and managing sustainable partnerships with identified Aberdeenshire-based communities. Key activities will include organising and delivering an ongoing series of creative workshops, supported by a socially engaged photographer. The work will then feed into the creation of collaborative and accessible exhibition programmes.

As a key member of the museum team, you will have highly-developed interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and communicate with a range of individuals and groups and project management experience of high-quality participatory cultural programmes.

The post is based at Museum Services HQ in Mintlaw and is line managed by the Museums Development Coordinator. The role is part-time at 22 hours a week for 15 months.

Secondment opportunities will be considered based on the advertised salary, subject to candidates having the mutual consent of their current employer.

It is anticipated that successful applicants will be invited to interview at Aberdeenshire Museums Service HQ in Mintlaw the week of 22 September.

Fixed Term for a period not exceeding: 31 December 2026.
