An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly skilled and experienced early years professional to join our team as Early Years Lead Practitioner at Glaitness Nursery. Glaitness Nursery is registered for 90 children aged 2-5 years and operates alongside Glaitness School in Kirkwall. The Nursery Leadership Team is made up of an ELC Manager, Senior Early Years Practitioner and two Lead EYPs who work together to support the nursery community and drive improvement. You will work alongside a dedicated team who are all committed to delivering our vision of ‘Learning through play in a nurturing way’.

Since August 2023, we have operated from our new purpose built/refurbished building on the Glaitness School site. We are proud of our setting and pride ourselves on focusing on our children but also their families and our connections to the wider community. If you join our team, you will have opportunities to be involved in family work, forest school sessions and community gardening as well as delivering high quality nursery provision in the setting.

You should hold a recognised qualification that enables registration with the SSSC as a Practitioner (Day Care of Children) e.g. HNC in Early Education and Child Care, SVQ Level 3 Social Services (Children and Young People) or other recognised qualification that enables registration. You are required to register with the SSSC within the first 6 months of taking up post and maintain registration.

This post is subject to a Level 2 Disclosure Check with PVG for working in regulated role with children.

Prospective applicants are invited to discuss this exciting opportunity by contacting Shaun Tulloch, Operational Manager (Early Learning and Childcare) on 01856 873535 ext 3225 or email shaun.tulloch@orkney.gov.uk
