About this opportunity
You will be joining the Banking Products Legal team. We are a supportive legal team which assist the BCB (Business and Commercial Bank) and CIB (Corporate and Investment Bank) within the Group.
Banking Products Legal supports six business teams - Cash Management and Payments, Merchant Services, Commercial Cards, Asset Finance, Invoice Finance and Trade Finance.
This role is within the Asset Finance legal team which supports asset finance across all customer sectors from consumers to large corporate clients. The Asset Finance business teams are committed to expanding their existing offering over the next few years across a range of products including hire purchase, finance leasing, lending and receivables purchase.
You'll use your experience to give proactive, pragmatic and solutions-focused advice and support to our Asset Finance business with its ambitious growth strategy.
What does the role involve?
We would want you to be able to:

operate as a subject matter specialist, supporting colleagues in the business and other functional areas;

provide support for the negotiation and execution of asset finance transactions;
-
provide legal support for product development and innovation, legal and regulatory change projects, rectifications and remediations, industry change initiatives, customer on-boarding and customer journeys;
-
proactively identify, report and support the management of legal and governance risks, recommending solutions when needed;
-
collaborate with team members and work cross-functionally to help deliver business strategy;
-
manage panel law firms and build and maintain positive relationships with external lawyers;
-
reflect on service delivery and look for continuous improvement activities; and
-
stay on top of regulatory, industry and legal change.

What you'll need

Qualified as a solicitor in the UK (or equivalent qualification) with at least 4 years PQE
-
A good understanding of the legal and regulatory framework applicable to asset finance, ideally with experience of asset financing for small and mid-sized corporate clients

An ability to build strong, collaborative relationships
-
Confidence in using experience and insights to influence, inform and challenge
And any experience of these would be really useful

In-house legal experience within a financial institution or asset finance provider

Experience in providing support in relation to asset finance intermediary relationships

Experience in asset finance, receivables financing or equipment leasing
