Summary

The Home Office works to build a safe, fair and prosperous UK. We achieve this through our work on counter-terrorism, policing, fire, crime, drugs policy, immigration and passports.

The Chief Operating Officer Group works closely with the Home Office’s policy and operational commands to enable us together to deliver the department’s priorities. The group is comprised of different teams and professional functions, including Commercial, Finance, People, Portfolio and Project Delivery, Security, Estates and Information and Digital, Data and Technology.

The role involves processing pass, warrant and ID card applications, ensuring all items are issued in accordance with current policy. You will also manage access control requests and provide a responsive counter service, handling security-related enquiries from staff and visitors. The post is ideally suited to individuals who can work flexibly and adapt to changing priorities. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a proactive attitude, the ability to use their own initiative, and, on occasion, work with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process pass/warrant/ID card applications, ensuring items are issued in line with current policy.
  • Manage the pass team counter on a rota basis, handling pass application sessions and general security enquiries.
  • Maintain effective oversight of the joint Pass Enquiries inbox, ensuring queries are resolved within service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Provide administrative support to the wider Physical Security Team. Answer telephone calls and respond to various pass, access and security-related questions. Handle incoming post.
  • Process access control requests across the Home Office estate.
  • This list of duties is not exhaustive, and you may be required to undertake other tasks appropriate to the grade of the post.

Working Pattern

Due to the business requirements of this role, it is only available on a full-time basis.

Training

Full training will be provided on the Home Office-specific systems and processes used in this role. You’ll receive guidance and support to ensure you’re confident and competent in all aspects of the position.
