Job Description: GP Receptionist Job Title: GP Receptionist Reports to:Practice Manager/Senior Receptionist Location:Featherstone Family Health Centre Hours: Part time Position 20 hours Job Purpose To provide a welcoming, efficient, and professional reception service for patients and visitors. The GP Receptionist is the first point of contact for the practice and plays a vital role in ensuring smooth day-to-day operations by supporting patients, doctors, nurses, and administrative staff. Key ResponsibilitiesPatient Interaction Greet patients and visitors in a friendly and professional manner. Answer incoming telephone calls promptly and courteously, directing them as appropriate. Book, amend, and cancel appointments using the practices clinical system. Manage patient queries, requests, and concerns with empathy and discretion. Assist with patient registration, updating records, and processing changes of details. Administration & Record Keeping Maintain accurate and confidential patient records in line with GDPR and practice policies. Process repeat prescription requests following established procedures. Handle incoming and outgoing correspondence, including emails, letters, and clinical documents. Support the organisation of clinics, recalls, and screening programmes. Practice Support Work collaboratively with the GP team, nurses, and other staff to ensure efficient service delivery. Provide administrative support for audits, reports, and clinical tasks as required. Assist with opening and closing the surgery, ensuring security procedures are followed. Monitor and maintain supplies of reception materials (e.g., forms, leaflets, stationery). Compliance & Confidentiality Adhere to all practice policies and procedures, including safeguarding, confidentiality, and data protection. Handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism. Participate in training and development to maintain up-to-date knowledge of systems and procedures.
