Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:00 am – 5:00 pm (No weekend work)
Job Type: Temp to perm, 12 weeks contracting then transferring to a permanent member of staff.
About the Role
We are seeking a reliable and skilled Vehicle Mechanic to join our team. This role requires someone who is fully qualified or time-served, with the ability to diagnose, repair, and complete MOT-related work independently. The right candidate will be motivated, trustworthy, and able to work without supervision, ensuring repairs are carried out to a high standard and within a sensible timescale.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out MOT failure repairs and general repairs on Classes 4, 5, and 7 vehicles (including motorhomes).
- Perform mechanical work such as clutches, cam belts, and associated repairs.
- Diagnose and repair auto-electrical issues.
- Use ramps and pits to complete repair work safely and efficiently.
- Communicate effectively with the office team.
- Accurately complete required paperwork.
- Advise on necessary parts and explain repair work to customers when required.
- Work independently while maintaining high quality standards.
Requirements
- Time-served or fully qualified mechanic.
- Own tools and workwear.
- Strong mechanical knowledge (repairs, not just part fitting).
- Ability to diagnose faults and carry out repairs to MOT standard.
- Good understanding of auto electrics.
- Strong communication skills and ability to explain work clearly to both colleagues and customers.
- Organised, trustworthy, and able to work without supervision.
Hours & Pay
- Monday to Friday: 7:00 am – 5:00 pm
- ½ hour paid morning break + 1-hour unpaid lunch
- £15 per hour (with potential for increase for the right reliable candidate).
