Summary
The Role
As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor/Estimator, you will play a vital role in supporting our senior quantity surveyors and commercial managers in the financial and contractual management of our diverse portfolio of projects. This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual with a strong foundation in quantity surveying to further develop their skills within a dynamic and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities
Working collaboratively with the wider team, your duties will include:
• Assisting in the preparation of project cost estimates, budgets, and tender documentation.
• Supporting the procurement process, including analysing quotes and negotiating with subcontractors and suppliers to secure competitive pricing and terms.
• Monitoring project expenditures, identifying variances against budget, and supporting cost control initiatives.
• Assisting with the preparation of interim valuations, applications for payment, and final accounts.
• Reviewing and analysing contract documents, identifying potential risks and opportunities.
• Participating in site visits and progress meetings to track project progress and assess project requirements.
• Maintaining accurate records and documentation, and preparing reports for various stakeholders.
• Liaising effectively with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams.
Required Skills and Experience
• A minimum of 3 years' industry experience working within a main contractor or similar environment.
• A relevant degree or qualification in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management is preferred.
• Strong understanding of construction processes, contracts, and regulations.
• Excellent numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
• Proficient in using industry-standard software, including Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong communication, negotiation, and teamwork skills.
• A clean, full UK driving license is essential.
