Process Operator (Night Shift – 4 on / 4 off)
Location: Cowdenbeath
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Shift Pattern: Rotating 12-hour night shifts – 4 on / 4 off
Hours: 18:00 – 06:00
Please note: The first week will be worked on dayshift for induction and familiarisation purposes.
About the Role:
We are currently seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Process Operator to join our dairy processing team in Cowdenbeath. In this key role, you will be responsible for controlling the intake and processing of raw milk and cream, ensuring all food safety, quality, and compliance standards are met.
Key Responsibilities:
Receiving and unloading raw milk tankers
Sampling milk for quality assurance testing
Connecting tankers to external silos safely and accurately
Monitoring silo volumes, milk holding times, and completing CIP (Clean-in-Place) processes
Managing the external CIP system and handling associated cleaning chemicals
Supporting Process Operators with cleaning and hygiene tasks across equipment and processing areas
Completing operational logs and data sheets in real-time
Performing basic mechanical tasks (e.g. changing seals on equipment)
Ensuring compliance with site quality, health & safety, and hygiene protocols
Wearing appropriate PPE including chemical handling gear at all times
Following Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
Assisting supervisors and team members as required for smooth plant operation
Qualifications & Experience:
Previous experience in dairy or food manufacturing is desirable but not essential (training provided)
Willingness to obtain:
Basic Food Hygiene Certificate (provided by the company)
Chemical Handling Certificate (provided by the company)
Ability to support and guide new staff through the buddy training system
Skills & Attributes:
Basic mechanical understanding (e.g. valves, seals, basic maintenance)
Strong numeracy skills for tracking volumes and using measuring systems
Basic computer literacy for using monitoring systems (training will be given)
Excellent communication (written and verbal)
Strong attention to detail and accurate record keeping
Physical capability to work in a hands-on, fast-paced environment
Flexible and proactive team player
