The Opportunity:
A Research Assistant position is available in the lab of Dr Kevin Myant (https://institute-genetics-cancer.ed.ac.uk/research/research-groups-a-z/myant-group) to carry out a collaborative project to test a novel therapeutic for the treatment of colorectal cancer. The project, sponsored by the industry partner Trogenix, is a collaboration with Prof Steven Pollard (https://institute-genetics-cancer.ed.ac.uk/research/research-groups-a-z/s-pollard-group) and aims to test the applicability to enhancer driven cell targeting in metastatic disease. The project will use patient derived human organoid models to determine how cancer cells respond to these therapies providing proof-of-principle of the applicability of this approach. The position is initially fixed term for 6 months and would be ideally suited to a researcher keen to bridge academic and translational/industry related projects. Your skills and attributes for success:
BSc/MSc or equivalent in cancer biology or a related biomedical field
Previous experience working with organoid culture systems
Experience in molecular biology techniques (flow cytometry, viral transductions, qRT-PCR etc)
Previous experience of contributions to research projects
Ability to communicate complex information clearly
