Summary
Wound care assessment and management for Plastic Surgery patients including those post op and following trauma injury. Undertake complex dressings, such as vacuum assisted therapy, suture/staple removal and wound debridment. Attending the Paediatric department with doctors to manage Paediatric trauma and review wounds. Assisting the doctors to perform minor operations under local anaesthetic or diagnostic procedures in the department's theatre. Preparing patients and transferring them for admission to wards for operations under local/general anaesthetic or for obseervation. Health promotion and advice and patient involvment in their care. Referral of patients to other specialists for safe and effective care. Ensuring safety of patients and clinic is maintained at all times. Report incidents and faulty equipment via the appropriate systems. Be polite, courteous, open and honest and defuse any conflict situations as they arise. Supervise nursing support staff and participate in education and training of student nurses. Ensure own learning and development is up to date and follow NMC, Trust and departmental policies and guidelines. Participate in daily department huddles and any departmental meetings. Participate in clinical supervision and clinical audit. Make efficient and cost effective use of resources.
