Summary
For purposes of management and use of resources he/she will be accountable to the Clinical Director for Breast Services and Medical Director of Cancer and Diagnostics working closely with the General Manager and he/she will ensure the effective and efficient use of resources allocated. He/she will be expected to provide a comprehensive clinical service to consultant colleagues and clinical disciplines within the hospital and to the local General Practitioners. Research activities, which are considered to be an inherent part of normal clinical duties, will be encouraged and limited research funding, may be available following successful application to the local research and development committee. The appointee will be responsible for the professional supervision and management of junior staff The appointee will be expected to participate in postgraduate teaching of medical staff and undergraduates attached to the Trust and in the training of all grades of staff. The job includes elective Breast surgery theatre sessions. There will be NO emergency general surgery on-call commitment in this post. There will be a requirement to operate alongside plastic surgeons based at neighbouring trusts The appointee will participate on a regular basis in the process of Clinical Audit within the department Where it is agreed between the parties, work on behalf of the NHS England such as domiciliary consultation or services provided by the authority for other agencies may be undertaken. He/she will be required to provide prospective cover for colleagues on a mutually agreed basis in respect of absence from duty. He/she will be expected to co-operate in the present agreed framework of the Directorate Management structure arrangements. The post holder undertakes, exceptionally, to perform additional duties as directed by the Directorate. The post holder is responsible for ensuring that he/she meets the national requirements for CPD, both internal and external.
