Summary
We are recruiting to a Band 8a Advanced Nurse Practitioner post within our Community Paediatrics service. We are looking for an experienced, dynamic nurse with advanced clinical skills, who is committed to improving outcomes for children and families — particularly in relation to ADHD assessment and management.
Candidates should hold a postgraduate qualification in Advanced Clinical Practice (PGDip or MSc), or be able to demonstrate equivalent experience and capability through a recognised credentialing route. Independent prescribing is essential.
The post holder will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team providing expert clinical assessment, management, and prescribing in the context of ADHD and neurodevelopmental conditions.
You will apply advanced practice skills across all four pillars (clinical, education, leadership and research), with a primary focus on clinical care. You will also contribute to service development, training, and ongoing quality improvement.
The postholder must be able to practice autonomously and demonstrate evidence of delivering care at an advanced level. They must also demonstrate capability in assessing risk, managing complexity, and supporting families across diverse communities.
Oxleas offers a wide range of NHS healthcare services to people in community and secure environment settings. Our services include community health care such as district nursing and speech and language therapy, care for people with learning disabilities and mental health care such as psychiatry, nursing and therapies. Our multidisciplinary teams look after people of all ages and we work in close partnership with other parts of the NHS, local councils and the voluntary sector and through our new provider collaboratives. Our 4,300 members of staff work in many different settings including hospitals, clinics, prisons, secure hospitals, children’s centres, schools and people’s homes.
We have over 125 sites in a variety of locations in the South of England. In London we operate within the Boroughs of Bexley, Bromley Greenwich and into Kent. We manage hospital sites including Queen Mary’s Hospital, Sidcup and Memorial Hospital, Woolwich, as well as the Bracton Centre, our medium secure unit for people with mental health needs. We are the largest NHS provider of prison health services providing healthcare to prisons within Devon, Dorset, Bristol, Wiltshire and Gloucestershire, Kent and South London. We are proud of the care we provide and our people.
Our purpose is to improve lives by providing the best possible care to our patients and their families. This is strengthened by our new values:

• Apply advanced skills in communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution using empathy, reassurance, and persuasion where significant barriers to change exist.
• Demonstrate critical awareness of how different personal and professional values may shape engagement, assessment, and treatment.
• Show insight into the potential for stigma and how it can affect co-production, motivation, and access to care.
• Maintain a strong understanding of population health and wellbeing, actively working to reduce inequalities and support vulnerable groups.
• Ensure that the needs of carers — including young carers — are identified, understood, and addressed appropriately within the care planning process.
