Summary

Ipswich Borough Council is looking for a proactive and skilled Corporate Fraud Investigator to join our Internal Audit & Corporate Fraud team. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in protecting public funds and resources across council services and partner organisations.

You’ll lead investigations into suspected fraud, theft, corruption, and other irregularities across a wide range of council services and partner authorities. Your work will include:

Conducting thorough investigations in line with appropriate legislation and best practice.

Collaborating with external agencies such as the DWP, HMRC, Police, and UKBA.

Developing and delivering fraud detection initiatives.

Maintaining accurate records and contributing to strategic anti-fraud planning.

Providing training and guidance on fraud prevention.

Accredited Counter Fraud Specialist or minimum 3 years’ experience in a fraud investigation role.

Strong knowledge of relevant legislation including PACE, RIPA, Fraud Act, Bribery Act.

Excellent communication, interviewing, and analytical skills.

Ability to manage sensitive cases independently and professionally.

Hours of work are 37 per week, Monday to Friday.

DBS clearance is required for this role.

This is a hybrid working role (a minimum of 1 day per week working in the office).
