Summary
We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Rugby to assist with the appointment of a HR Generalist Advisor, on a 2.5-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.
Rate of Pay: £14.04 - £17.75 per hour
Summary:
The HR Generalist Advisor will provide high-quality, professional people management advice and support across Rugby Borough Councils Work Services Unit. The role focuses on employee relations, recruitment and selection, occupational health, pay and grading, and welfare. Acting as a trusted advisor, the postholder will support managers and employees, foster positive employee relations, and promote the Councils HR strategy, values, and policies. This role combines hands-on advisory work with coaching, mentoring, and developing line managers people management skills.
Responsibilities:
Act as the first point of contact for HR advice on policies, procedures, and employment law.
Manage and advise on employee relations issues, including disciplinaries, grievances, sickness absence, and capability cases.
Provide ongoing coaching to line managers to strengthen people management skills.
Deliver bite-sized training and monthly HR drop-in sessions to support staff.
Contribute to the delivery of the Councils HR Strategy and promote CANDO values.
Requirements:
Experience of delivering professional HR advice to managers and employees.
CIPD qualification (full membership) or equivalent knowledge.
Strong knowledge of employment law, HR policies, and ACAS Code of Practice.
Experience in employee relations, inclusion and diversity, learning and development, or recruitment and resourcing.
ICT skills, including HR and payroll systems.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
Proven ability to build relationships and influence managers.
Understanding of Equality and Diversity issues, particularly the Equality Act 2010.
Ability to plan, prioritise, and make timely decisions.
Commitment to Rugby Borough Councils CAN DO values.
