Summary
Due to a forthcoming retirement of the current post holder a vacancy has arisen for a Band 8A Physiotherapist in the Critical Care and Surgery Therapy Team at North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust (NWAFT).
This is a full time, 37.5 hours per week post plus additional weekend and on-call duties. It is a mixed clinical, strategic and budget holder post for a therapy team covering critical care, medical respiratory patients (both in-patients and outpatients), cardiology and surgery. The team is a mixture of registered occupational therapists and physiotherapists from Bands 5-7 and support staff bands 3 and 4. The team is part of a wider Rehabilitation Department with therapy specialities spread across the Trust sites.
The service itself is very varied in nature both in acuity and complexity of patients and requires excellent therapeutic skills and communication from all its staff, not least the Lead post communicating appropriately with senior figures both with NWAFT and the local health economy to achieve the best outcomes for the patients within the area cared for by the team and the wider rehabilitation service.
The successful post-holder must have excellent acute respiratory physiotherapy skills appropriate to working on a general adult Critical Care Unit as well as with general medicine and acute rehabilitation patients.
Interviews for this role will be conducted in person to assess relevant skills effectively.
TheCritical Care & Surgery Therapy Service Lead has oversight for the critical care, respiratory and surgery therapy serviceand its development across both Peterborough and Hinchingbrooke sites. The role works closely with the clinical specialist and team leader to advance the service in line with departmental, trust, regional and national priorities. This will include extensive work with both internal and external stakeholders. The post holder will be supported by the Rehabilitation Services Manager to deliver this. They will be accountable for the overall performance governance of the Critical Care & Surgery therapy team.
The post holder will work using an enhanced level of practice applying specialist therapy knowledge and skills in the fields of critical care, respiratory and surgery. They will assess and treat a specialist complex caseload of patients. They will lead on service development, audit and research initiatives to deliver on best practice evidence based care.
The post holder must be an active participant in the on-call respiratory physiotherapy out of hours rota with the same frequency as others fulfilling this rota.
