Summary
Part Time – Youth Worker 6 hours a week (additional hours may be valuable)
Term time: Mon (Gosport) and Wed (Fort Widley). 15:30-18:30
Extra hours available during school holidays. Transport options can be explored if necessary.
Main duties and responsibilities:
• Assist in the delivery of youth sessions across both Oarsome Chance sites.
• Support the delivery of various activities to young people and to support them in their social and emotional needs.
• Contribute to the planning of activities run during sessions.
• Be a positive team member within the staff team, taking personal responsibility for ensuring good morale and positive working relations.
• Ensuring the safety and well-being of all the young people supported at Oarsome Chance.
• Encourage and enable young people to participate in a range of activities and to support them in the development of their personal and social skills.
• To inform the line manager of any personal or safeguarding concerns relating to the session, as well as being able to identify the personal needs of young people.
• Prior experience in supporting young people with neurodiversity and SEN.
• Ability to effectively challenge young people’s language and behaviours.
• Ability to contribute creative ideas and solutions. Be proactive and able to engage with young people through activities.
• Good knowledge and commitment to safeguarding young people.
• An awareness of issues young people are faced with.
• Understanding of, and commitment to the promotion of equal opportunities.
