Summary
A vacancy exists for an Early Years Practitioner at Holmes Chapel Community Pre-school, starting as soon as possible.
Applicants should hold a recognised Level III childcare qualification, or equivalent.
Applicants who hold a Level II qualification, but are working towards Level III, may be considered.
We are looking for a candidate who is passionate about working with children. Some experience of working with SEN children is preferable, although not essential.
The post is for a minimum of two days a week, term-time only, for 38 weeks in the year.
Hours of work will be between 7.45 am to 6.15 pm Monday to Friday, and you may be required to work a combination of mornings, afternoons and full days.
Flexibility to cover additional sessions may be required.
Occasional extra sessions and inset days will be required for training and planning.
You will work as a part of the Pre-school team, under the direction of the Manager to provide safe, high quality education and care for young children.
Main duties:
1. Plan and deliver age-appropriate educational activities that promote physical, emotional, social, and cognitive development.
2. Foster positive relationships with children, encouraging their independence and self-esteem.
3. To follow the staff job rota and take responsibilities for the designated role for that day.
4. Collaborate with colleagues to maintain a positive team environment and contribute to the overall success of the preschool.
5. To act as a keyperson to a small number of children. This will involve observing and assessing children's progress, maintaining accurate individual Learning Journey’s, identifying and supporting personal Next Steps to progress each child and half termly summaries.
6. Support children with personal care routines as needed, including feeding, changing, and toileting.
7. To help set up a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment that supports children's individual learning styles and needs and tidy away at the end of the session.
8. Work closely with parents and families, providing updates on their child's progress and involving them in their learning journey.
9. To work with the setting SENCO providing learning opportunities and experiences for those children with additional needs.
10. To feedback any safeguarding or special educational concerns to the appropriate named staff member and to promote the safeguarding and welfare of children.
11. Report any maintenance or safety issues to the Preschool Manager promptly
12. To maintain a clean and hygienic environment throughout the setting including the removal of daily waste and recycling, ensuring bins are emptied regularly and taking laundry home to be laundered.
13. To attend regular staff meetings and supervisions.
14. To attend in-service training courses as required.
15. To read, sign and adhere to Pre School’s policies, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, safeguarding policies, and early years framework standard at all times.
16. To keep completely confidential any information regarding the children, their families or other members of staff.
17. To undertake any other reasonable duties as directed by the Pre School Manager, in accordance with the Pre School’s objectives
