Summary

The Government Car Service provides vehicles and drivers to multiple Government Departments and Ministers. Operating with 90 drivers and fully operational workshops GCS is based in London SE1 and is a self contained organisation operating within the Government Security Group.

These are exciting times for GCS with large changes to the service envisaged and this is a fantastic opportunity to take on a role working at the heart of Government, at times working directly with Government Ministers.

To be a part of the changing face of Government operations is both an exciting and challenging opportunity.

Reporting into the Head of Operations, the role manages the commercial contracts for goods supplied to GCS and also contracts (SLA’s) with clients.

Line managing the operational responsibilities of the Briefing Team is a key aspect of this role along with an Operations Officer and a newly created post of Business Support Officer.

The role also oversees the in-house driver training programme.

Responsibilities

  • Contract management of GCS bought in products & services;
  • Management of customer Service level Agreements;
  • Procurement (CIPS Training or equivalent to be given if required);
  • Management of customer database and records;
  • Ownership of the operational booking system (Specialised training will be given);
  • Freedom of Information correspondence;
  • Parliamentary Questions correspondence;
  • Ministerial correspondence;
  • Management of inhouse driver training programme;
  • Customer & Driver liaison;
  • Administration of Government Purchasing Cards;
  • Line Management of Operations Team.
