Summary
Corporate and Delivery Directorate works closely with the Home Office’s policy and operational commands to enable us together to deliver the department’s priorities. The directorate is comprised of different teams and professional functions, including Commercial, Finance, People, Portfolio and Project Delivery, Security, Estates and Information and Digital, Data and Technology.
A key purpose for the Home Office Property Services Team (HOPS) is to ensure that operational colleagues have an estate and facilities which are modern, fit for purpose, environmentally sustainable and allow staff to maximise their operational effectiveness. To this end, HOPS will work closely with Business Leads across the portfolio alongside our delivery partners and Government Property Agency (GPA) to consider how to improve and optimise the use of buildings and facilities by creating a pipeline of lease events and championing opportunities for efficiencies, delivering business cases to the Governance Boards and reviewing legal and professional advice on lease proposals.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Home Office Property Services (HOPS) Team as an SEO Estates Surveyor. The post holder will be expected to challenge assumptions and provide Estates advice to colleagues.
The work will include the preparation and presentation of papers for our Estates Investment Boards, and wider Cabinet Office Governance Committees across the Core HO Estate and wider portfolio.
The Estates Surveyor will work closely with stakeholders, professional colleagues, delivery partners, GPA and the key business leads, ensuring that activities are in line with our Estates and Asset Strategies, providing value for money and mitigating liabilities.
Key responsibilities:
- With our Principal Surveyor, review of lease documents such as TOAs, MOTOs and commercial leases to ensure the agreements are in line with business needs and wider strategies.
- Preparing and presenting Governance reports and applications for such as Cabinet Office approvals and Estates Investment Boards.
- Proactively provide Estates advice and challenge of assumptions in a professional capacity.
- Procure, oversee and assess advice from other legal and professional partners to ensure that it benefits and is in line with Home Office interests.
- Manage & monitor upcoming lease events and opportunities for estates efficiencies, liaison with Strategy & Planning leads to identify opportunities for savings.
- Working collaboratively alongside our internal and external delivery partners and suppliers to ensure business requirements are met and delivered successfully.
- Support the HOPS senior management in development and delivery of the Home Office & wider Government estates strategy and pipeline.
Working pattern
Due to the business requirements of this role, it is only available on a full-time basis. However, compressed hours are available.
Training

This includes industry recognised qualifications and accreditations, coaching, mentoring and talent development programmes.
Travel
Frequent travel to London, and within the UK and your portfolio will be required in line with business requirements.
