JOB DESCRIPTION Job Title: Community Paediatric Physiotherapist Job Grade: Band 6, part-time (22.5 hours; 3 days) Managerially responsible to: Kate Moss (Chief Executive, Vranch House) Professionally accountable to: Susanna Mitchell (Head of Therapies, Vranch House) Department: Paediatric Therapy Services Base: Vranch House School & Centre in Exeter and/or Barnstaple Health Centre. RDUH (NNU) and NDDH (NNU) subject to qualifications & experience. Job Summary: An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Community Paediatric Physiotherapist to join our dynamic and supportive Paediatric Therapy Team. The postholder will deliver high-quality, evidence-based physiotherapy services to children and young people aged 018 with a range of developmental, neurological, musculoskeletal and complex needs. Working in a variety of community settings including homes, clinics, special and mainstream schools, and early years settings, you will play a key role in helping children achieve their functional potential and maximise independence. Key Responsibilities: Clinical Duties: Independently assess, diagnose, and treat children and young people with a broad range of conditions. Develop and implement individualised treatment plans using a goal-oriented, family-centred approach. Manage a defined caseload with regular supervision, prioritising effectively according to clinical need. The caseload will vary depending on the divide between school and outpatients. There is an expectation to see a minimum of six patients per day if working in outpatients full time, or up to approximately 8 patients per day in a clinic setting; or if working within Vranch House school to provide physiotherapy support to two or more classes. This will be adjusted accordingly if the post-holder is responsible for physiotherapy support within other settings such as the neonatal unit. Collaborate with families, carers, education staff, and multidisciplinary professionals to ensure holistic care. Provide advice, training, and support to parents, carers, and professionals on therapy strategies and equipment use. Contribute to and attend multidisciplinary meetings and education, health and care plan (EHCP) reviews as required. Refer to other services when necessary and work jointly with other health and social care professionals. Professional Duties: Maintain accurate, timely, and comprehensive clinical records in line with trust and professional standards. Participate in clinical audit, service evaluation, and quality improvement projects. Supervise and support the development of Band 5 physiotherapists, students, and support staff. Undertake continuing professional development and maintain a portfolio in line with HCPC requirements. Contribute to the development of policies, procedures, and care pathways. Requirements: Qualifications: Degree or equivalent in Physiotherapy. HCPC registration as a Physiotherapist. Experience: Minimum of 2 years post-registration experience with at least 612 months in paediatrics. Experience in community or educational settings desirable. Experience working with children with neurodevelopmental, neuromuscular, and/or musculoskeletal conditions. Skills and Knowledge: Sound clinical reasoning and evidence-based practice in paediatric physiotherapy. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills. Knowledge of child development, safeguarding, and relevant legislation (e.g., SEND Code of Practice, EHCP process). Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary and multiagency team. Other Requirements: Current full UK driving licence and access to a car for work purposes.
