This is an exciting opportunity to join our Cellular Pathology service at the Northern Care Alliance. With this role will provide management expertise in a section of Cellular Pathology.

You will have particular responsibility in training staff competencies, registration and specialist portfolio candidates)and quality management, in your section of the laboratory and act as a member of the senior laboratory team ensuring good governance and supporting the quality management system.

You will have responsibility for a section of the Cellular pathology Department

a) To manage and co-ordinate the day to day activities of the a section of the Cellular Pathology laboratory

b) To participate fully in all technical work activities of the department by processing biomedical specimens requiring advanced and specialist technical knowledge.

c) Proactively manages the timely and efficient throughput of the work of the Cellular Pathology department

d) Maintain the quality of work produced within the section (by self and others) through robust monitoring of internal quality control and external quality assurance processes

e) Act as the deputy Quality Lead to ensure the maintenance of appropriate quality management systems within the section of the laboratory.

f) Train, develop and competency assess staff

g) Conduct line management duties – return to work interviews, sickness management, performance management, appraisals

h) Maintain registration as a biomedical scientist through continuing to meet the standards of proficiency for safe and effective practice and continuing to meet the HCPC’s standards for continuing professional development

i) Deputise for the Cellular Pathology Technical Manager when required.
