Summary

The role
Looking for a role where your organisational skills can make a real impact? Join our Integrated Engineering Team in North East Wales as an Administrative Assistant, where you'll play a key part in supporting the delivery of vital flood risk and forestry infrastructure projects.

In this varied and rewarding role, you'll help keep the team running smoothly-coordinating meetings, managing records and data, and assisting with procurement and financial processes. You'll be the backbone of a friendly and committed team of engineers and technical staff, working together to protect and enhance Wales' natural environment.

Whether you're scheduling meetings, updating asset databases, or helping track budgets, your attention to detail and proactive approach will help us deliver essential services efficiently. You'll also be a first point of contact for basic enquiries, helping us stay connected with our stakeholders.

As an organisation we support flexible working. You will be contracted to the NRW office at the above location and a suitable hybrid working pattern will be agreed on appointment. Any regular face to face meetings or training will be planned in advance.

Successful applicants will be subject to a satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service Check (DBS) check. Appointments are normally made within 4 to 8 weeks of the closing date.

What you will do
  • Provide administrative support for the engineering team, including scheduling meetings, recording minutes and actions, and ensuring timely follow-up to support team coordination and delivery.
  • Manage and maintain accurate records and data systems, including asset databases, and operational spreadsheets, ensuring information is up-to-date, accessible, and in line with data protection requirements.
  • Act as a first point of contact for basic customer and stakeholder enquiries, providing clear and courteous responses. More complex queries will be recorded and directed to appropriate team members for follow-up.
  • Support procurement processes by raising and tracking low-value purchase requests, maintaining procurement records, and liaising with suppliers or internal teams as needed.
  • Assist the team leader with budget administration, including processing invoices, updating financial trackers, and supporting routine budget monitoring activities.Undertake health and safety duties and responsibilities appropriate to the post

  • Any other reasonable duties requested commensurate with the grade of this role.

Your qualifications, experience, knowledge and skills

Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively in a busy team environment. Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage professionally with internal colleagues and external customers or partners. Applied experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, and other basic IT systems, with general computer proficiency and a willingness to learn new tools. Full UK driving licence desirable Able to work well as part of a team.
Welsh Language Level requirements:
  • Essential: Level A1 - Entry level (able to use and understand simple, basic phrases and greetings, no conversational Welsh
