Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Estimator (minimum 5 years’ experience) based in WC1X to lead the cost-estimating process for mechanical construction and installation projects. You will deliver accurate forecasts, guide tender pricing, and drive profitable project outcomes across HVAC, plumbing, piping, and related mechanical systems.

Key Responsibilities

Carry out detailed quantity take-offs, material assessments, labor costing, and equipment expense estimates.
Review architectural/mechanical drawings, project specs, and BoQs.
Solicit and review quotes from suppliers and subcontractors.
Collaborate with engineering, procurement, and project teams to optimize designs and manage risk.
Incorporate overheads, contingencies, and margin into proposals.
Maintain and update cost databases, benchmarks, and unit rate libraries.
Analyze actual versus estimated project costs to refine future estimates.
Mentor and oversee junior estimators.
Present and defend estimates to clients and internal stakeholders.
Track market trends: material pricing, labor rates, and regulatory changes.
Required Qualifications & Experience

At least 5 years of mechanical estimating experience in construction or industrial sectors.
Proven ability to estimate mechanical projects (HVAC, piping, plumbing, fire protection).
Competency in take-off tools (e.g., Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff) and cost-estimating software (e.g., CostOS, Sage).
Strong analytical skills, financial literacy, and negotiation capability.
Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or similar preferred.
Professional certification (e.g., AACE, ASPE) is advantageous.
