Summary
Stanmore Contractors is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Trainee Façade Material Buyer to join our procurement team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone at the beginning of their career to gain hands-on experience in construction procurement and develop the skills needed to grow into a specialist role.
In this role, you will support the procurement of a wide range of façade-related materials, including cladding, brackets, steelwork, and other essential items. Working alongside our experienced design, construction, and estimating teams, you will learn how to source materials competitively, track deliveries, and ensure projects run smoothly.
Key Responsibilities (with support and training)
Assisting with reviewing material specifications provided by internal teams.
Helping to obtain quotations and compare prices, delivery times, and supplier reliability.
Learning how to negotiate with suppliers to achieve best value.
Supporting the placement and management of material orders.
Liaising with suppliers to monitor deliveries and helping to resolve any issues.
Assisting in reporting on procurement activities, such as costs and supplier performance.
Gaining knowledge of industry standards and compliance requirements.
Skills & Qualities We’re Looking For
Interest in construction, materials, or supply chain management.
Willingness to learn about façade materials such as cladding and steelwork.
Good communication skills and a positive, proactive attitude.
Strong attention to detail and good organisational skills.
Basic IT skills (Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook); training will be provided on procurement software.
Ability to work well in a team and ask questions when unsure.
