Summary


The successful candidate will assume a direct clinical role within the department, sharing all facilities equally with the existing consultants. This is a substantive post (10 PAs) and the appointee will be joining 32 Consultant Ophthalmologist posts already established.The successful candidate will work 10 PA’s a week, which willinclude an 8 DCC and 2 SPA split (Flexible working may be considered). It is expected that the successful applicant will play an active role in the consultant on call rota for VR (currently 1:4, but with a plan to move to 1:5). Whilst most vitreoretinal work is undertaken at HUTH, it is anticipated that the successful candidate will undertake 1 outpatient VR clinic in Grimsby per week

The Consultant will, in conjunction with colleagues:



i. Provide Vitreo-retinal clinics and theatre

ii. Provide an Ophthalmic service in accordance with the agreed timetable and subsequent job plan

iii. Provide 1 in 4 on call cover for Hull Royal Infirmary

iv. Supervise and help train colleagues including trainees and Allied Health Professionals

v. Help with advice and management of emergency patients along with the on-call team when needed

vi. Work flexibly to provide adequate cover for colleagues when needed to ensure smooth running of the service
