We're proud to be values-driven, putting people at the heart of everything we do. To help us achieve our goals, we are looking for a Finance Business Partner (FTC maternity cover) to join our finance team and provide trusted support, insight and challenge across the organisation.

The role

Join us at Orwell as a Finance Business Partner, where you will play a pivotal role in internal financial reporting, regulatory reporting, budgeting, and finance business partnering. Your responsibilities will extend to leading projects that drive continuous improvement within our finance function.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the provision of high-quality internal financial reporting and regulatory reporting.
  • Drive budgeting processes and finance business partnering initiatives.
  • Collaborate closely with all departments to maintain top-notch service standards.
  • Manage and support team members, identifying training needs and conducting annual appraisals.
  • Foster a culture of positive communication and collaboration within the team.
  • To lead the daily operations of the Management Accounts team, to provide high quality financial reporting to Orwell

About you

  • Minimum of 3 years post qualification experience working within the accountancy field
  • Proven record of being able to prioritise workloads and react to changing priorities
  • Proven ability to build collaborative relationships with others inside and outside own area
  • Previous experience managing a team
  • Previous experience of budgeting and internal financial reporting including management accounts
  • Previous experience working within the social housing sector (desirable)
  • Solid understanding of accountancy principles and concepts
  • Knowledge of Housing Association finance and accountancy requirements is desirable
  • Understanding of FRS102 & Housing SORP would be advantageous
  • Good knowledge of OpenAccounts software and Infor BI would be advantageous
  • Good understanding of financial governance

Qualifications required

  • Senior accountancy qualification such as ACA, ACCA, CIMA (or equivalent)
  • Leadership qualification or willingness to gain a qualification in the Orwell Academy
