Environmental and Community Services Directorate - Operational Services – Making a Difference Every Day

Are you passionate about creating cleaner, safer communities? Do you thrive outdoors and enjoy engaging with the public? We have an exciting opportunity for a Neighbourhood Warden to join our dedicated team within Operational Services based at Merlin House, Merlin Way, Ilkeston, Derbyshire.

As a Neighbourhood Warden, you will be at the forefront of environmental enforcement and community engagement. Your role will be vital in promoting responsible behaviour, investigating environmental offences, and taking legal action where necessary.

What You’ll Be Doing:
• Influencing positive behaviour and enforcing environmental laws
• Investigating fly tipping, abandoned vehicles, and other environmental crimes
• Issuing Fixed Penalty Notices and attending magistrates’ court when required
• Working outdoors in all weather conditions to serve the community

What We’re Looking For:
• Experience in one or more local government service areas including dog warden service, markets, parking, CCTV service, community safety, or similar
• Knowledge of relevant legislation and guidance
• Strong communication, advocacy, and conflict resolution skills
• Ability to produce detailed reports and present statistical data
• Confidence working with the public and handling challenging situations
• Flexibility to work outside of normal office hours including working evenings and weekends when necessary

Please note: This role requires a satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
