We are delighted to be able to offer an opportunity for a highly motivated, ambitious individual to join our well integrated team.



The successful candidate will have a UK CCT or equivalent in paediatric cardiology and shown a commitment advanced echocardiography during their training. They will demonstrate higher specialist training in echocardiography and preferably will have undergone a post CCT fellowship and worked in a unit delivering the subspecialty. The candidate will be able to run a busy paediatric cardiology on call including experience with the management of children on mechanical support and in the peri transplant period. The candidate will demonstrate an ability to carry out interoperative echo imaging for children with congenital heart disease and in selected adult congenital heart disease patients. The candidate will be keen to be integrated into all aspects of the department and have show experience in developing the echocardiographic component of advanced heart failure management including ventricular assist in children.

To work with the current team of consultants to provide tertiary cardiac care for children with congenital and acquired heart disease in the Northern region and patients referred from other regions for ongoing management. To develop the paediatric echocardiography service and provide advanced echocardiography imaging for these patients.

· Participating in an on-call rota (approximately 1-in-8) for paediatric patients referred to the unit. The individual will be expected to work effectively in a team and work closely with the intensive care specialists, anaesthetists, cardiac surgeons and cardiology colleagues.

· To provide in-patient and out-patient opinions for children with congenital and acquired heart disease across the Trust and to colleagues across the network and for referrals across the UK.

· To provide continuing care of children with heart problems on an in-patient or out-patient basis.

· To provide a full range advanced echocardiology opinion and care to patients referred to the unit. This will include inpatient and outpatient duties as well as contribution to the surgical MDT.

· Develop the paediatric echocardiology service by providing training and support to current team members.

· Contributing to the clinical governance meeting and audit of all areas of children’s cardiac care.

· Undergo Continued Medical Education (CME) in accordance with guidelines stipulated by the Royal College.

· Undertake an annual appraisal and job plan review. It is expected that objectives within job plan reviews will be based on Trust objectives such asfulfilment of fixed contractual commitments on the basis of a 43 week working year with due allowance for statutory holidays.
