Summary


The Senior Site Coordinator [Band 7] is a key clinical leader responsible for maintaining safety, quality, and continuity of care across inpatient units—especially during out-of-hours (OOH) periods. This role is being standardised across the Trust to ensure consistency, responsiveness, and professional oversight.



At present the hours of work are 19.30hrs to 08.00hrs Monday to Friday nights and then either a day or a night shift at weekends and bank holidays where the service provision is 24 hour cover. The main base for this particular post will be Highgate Mental Health Centre West/East.
Clinical Leadership
• Oversee the clinical safety of inpatient wards.
• Monitor staffing levels, patient acuity, and bed flow.
• Ensure compliance with statutory and legal frameworks, including the Mental Health Act 1983.
Operational Management
• Lead site operations during nights, weekends, and bank holidays.
• Act as the first point of escalation before Tactical On Call.
• Support ward teams in managing risk and service pressures.
Staff Support & Development
• Supervise junior staff and students, ensuring learning objectives are met.
• Participate in induction and orientation of new staff.
• Promote a culture of evidence-based practice and continuous learning.
Quality & Improvement
• Contribute to policy development and service improvement.
• Respond to audits, complaints, and serious incidents.
• Liaise with specialist units and external professionals to ensure holistic care.
Patient & Carer Engagement
• Recognise and support the needs of families and carers.
• Respect and incorporate patients’ customs, values, and spiritual beliefs.
Medication Oversight
• Administer medication in line with NMC and Trust policies.
• Provide clear information on treatment plans and side effects.

In order to meet the needs of the Trust you may be required from time to time to work at different locations to your normal place of work. This may mean that you are required to work at any location that fall under Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Haringey or Islington. The Trust reserves the right to require staff to work at such other places or locations as it considers reasonable and necessary on a temporary or permanent basis.
