Town Ranger – Bury Town Centre
14 hours per week (Saturday & Sunday)
We are recruiting a Town Ranger to join our team and enhance the visitor experience in Bury Town Centre BID. Working 14 hours per week across weekends, this is a unique opportunity to play a central role in supporting businesses, welcoming visitors, and helping to create a safe, attractive, and vibrant town centre.
About the Role
The Town Ranger will provide a visible, approachable, uniformed presence across the BID area – acting as the eyes and ears of the company, supporting local businesses, and being a trusted point of contact for visitors.
A large part of the role involves acting as a welcome host – giving directions, answering questions, signposting to businesses, attractions, and events, and ensuring visitors have a positive experience in Bury Town Centre.
You’ll work as part of a team but will also be confident working independently, always helping to promote a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for businesses, residents, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities
Patrol and monitor the BID area, providing an approachable, reassuring presence.
Welcome and assist visitors, shoppers, and business customers.
Build positive relationships with town centre businesses and act as an ambassador for Bury and all it offers.
Identify, monitor, and report any incidents or unusual activity to the appropriate authority (Council, CCTV, Police, PCSOs, CSAS).
Support the CCTV room and relevant authorities with the identification of known troublemakers where required.
Keep accurate records of incidents and daily activity.
Champion safety and security, ensuring all Health & Safety requirements are met.
Support the delivery of town centre events.
Promote the town centre as a welcoming and safe place to live, work, and visit.
Carry out any other duties reasonably requested by the Chief Operating Officer.
About You
SIA DS License required.
We’re looking for someone who is:
Friendly, approachable, and confident engaging with the public.
Proactive, observant, and community-minded.
Reliable, professional, and able to remain calm under pressure.
Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.
Passionate about making Bury Town Centre a great place to visit.
