This collaborative environment fosters continuous learning and professional growth within a rapidly evolving field.

In this pivotal role as a Cyber Security Analyst (Trainee), you will play a crucial part in safeguarding the university’s assets, both physical and digital, and maintaining the overall integrity of its cyber infrastructure. You will conduct periodic physical audits of ITS hardware to verify existence, location, and condition. Collaborating closely with colleagues across ITS, you will contribute to the development and implementation of comprehensive security measures that protect sensitive information from evolving cyber threats.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include monitoring network activity for potential vulnerabilities or breaches, assisting in the deployment of security protocols, and participating in incident response activities. You will also have the opportunity to support investigative efforts when security incidents occur, helping to analyse root causes and recommend solutions to prevent future occurrences.

Beyond technical responsibilities, you will be actively engaged in supporting the university community. Through our service desk and dedicated security awareness programme, you will provide guidance, answer queries, and deliver tailored advice to both staff and students. By fostering a culture of cyber awareness, you will help empower users to recognise risks and adopt best practices, ensuring that everyone plays their part in maintaining a secure digital environment.

A genuine enthusiasm for all aspects of cyber security is crucial, as is a clear commitment to ongoing learning and professional development in this fast-evolving field. Candidates should demonstrate curiosity, resourcefulness, and a proactive approach to keeping abreast of the latest trends, threats, and best practices.
