We are seeking a passionate and dynamic English Teacher to join our thriving department. This is an exciting opportunity to teach across Key Stages 3 and 4, shaping the next generation of readers, writers, and critical thinkers.
For the right candidate, there are also leadership opportunities within the English Department or other opportunities within the school. This may include leading on Key Stage 3 curriculum, taking responsibility for literacy strategy, or developing enrichment opportunities such as clubs, competitions, or trips. Key Responsibilities
• Plan and deliver engaging lessons in English Language and Literature at KS3 and KS4.
• Prepare students for GCSE examinations, ensuring high expectations and strong outcomes.
• Provide constructive feedback and use assessment effectively to accelerate progress.
• Contribute to a collaborative and innovative English department.
• Inspire a lifelong love of reading, writing, and critical thinking.
• (For leadership candidates) Take responsibility for a curriculum area, literacy initiative, or enrichment programme, supporting the wider success of the department and school.
Candidate Profile
Qualifications & Experience:
• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
• Experience of teaching English at Key Stage 3 and 4, with proven GCSE success desirable.
• Strong knowledge of the English National Curriculum and exam board requirements.
• (For leadership roles) Evidence of leading projects, initiatives, or curriculum development is desirable.
Skills & Qualities:
• Enthusiastic about literature, language, and creative writing, and able to share this passion with students.
• Skilled in differentiating lessons to meet diverse learning needs (including SEND and EAL).
• Strong classroom presence with excellent behaviour management.
• Confident in using data and technology to support learning and progress.
• (For leadership candidates) Ability to inspire and support colleagues, with a track record of driving improvement.
Professionalism & Attitude:
• Resilient, reflective, and committed to continuous professional development.
• A collaborative team player with a positive approach to school life.
• Willing to support or lead enrichment opportunities, such as clubs, competitions, or trips.
