Trust Grade Lead Registrar in Emergency Medicine
This job is designed for those with at least 2 years of experience of leading the Emergency Department who are interested in developing their autonomy further in a District General Hospital setting. It is expected that the post holder will be fully capable of leading the Emergency Department and be able to display proof of valid life support courses before the start of their post.
The job will involve 12 months working as a senior ED decision maker (including at night). You will primarily work in Ealing Hospital, with occasional shifts at Northwick Park Hospital based on clinical staffing needs.
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Trust Grade Lead Registrar doctor to join the Emergency Department at London North West University Hospitals (Northwick Park & Ealing Hospital).
The successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of the care of patients in the Emergency Department(ED). He/she will have direct responsibility for the management of patients. There is 08:00 to 00:00 Emergency Medicine Consultant presence at both departments, and additional night cover from Friday to Monday at Northwick Park Hospital. Outside these hours one of the middle grade doctors is designated to undertake the ‘lead role’ and works in close liaison with the nurse co-ordinator to ensure the department runs efficiently.
A ‘Rapid Assessment Triage facilitates more efficient processing of patients who are deemed not likely to require admission.
In addition to main shop-floor duties the successful candidate will also participate in the care of patients in the Clinical Decision Unit, incorporating Same Day Emergency care (SDEC).
The wide range of clinical interfaces provides a stimulating and rewarding experience for the clinician with ample opportunity for training.
London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust (LNWH) cares for the people of Brent, Ealing, Harrow and beyond.
Our team of more than 8,200 clinical and support staff serve a diverse population of almost one million people.
We run major acute services at:
• Northwick Park Hospital: home to one of the busiest emergency departments (A&E) in the country. The hospital provides a full range of services including the country’s top-rated hyper-acute stroke unit and one of only three hyper-acute rehabilitation units in the UK
• St Mark’s Hospital: an internationally renowned specialist centre for bowel disease
• Ealing Hospital: a busy district general hospital providing a range of clinical services, as well as 24/7 emergency department and urgent care centre, and specialist care at Meadow House Hospice
• Central Middlesex Hospital: our planned care site, hosting a range of surgical and outpatient services and collocated with an urgent care centre.
We are a university teaching NHS trust, in recognition of the important role we play in training clinicians of the future and bringing the benefits of research to the public.
