SALARY RANGE: £26,500 to £28,500 (depending on experience) REPORTING TO: Headteacher and Designated Safeguarding Person HOURS OF WORK: 8.15am – 4.30pm (Monday - Thursday) 8.15am - 3:30pm (Friday) *there may be very rare times where Safeguarding needs lead to tasks needing to be completed outside these times*
JOB SUMMARYSporting Chance is currently registered for 20 learners, has 16 learners on roll and this position is part of the non classroom based Pastoral team.The work of our pastoral team relates closely with our relationship and safeguarding policies, and is designed to offer additional support to the ALNCO (Headteacher) andDesignated Safeguarding Person (Director), as well as supporting the social, emotional needs of our learners, their families and/or their professional support network.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Supporting the Designated Safeguarding Person: ● To be the Deputy Designated Safeguarding Person. ● Monitor Safeguard my School concerns entered by staff and take the appropriate actions including completing DTRs, SPACE and other referrals when necessary● Be the first port of call for colleagues, families and learners with Safeguarding matters when the Designated Safeguarding Person is unavailable, or requests you to do so.● Assist in ensuring the Safeguarding Policy is understood and followed by all staff members.● Ensure relevant members of staff are asked for their information to share during meetings and compiling records about the learners.● Support the emotional, social and pastoral needs of all pupils. ● Establish constructive relationships with parents/carers, exchanging information, and facilitating support to ensure good attendance.● Attend Child Protection Conferences and Network/Core Group Meetings as appropriate.● Attend regular Pastoral meetings, particularly one to ones with the Designated Safeguarding Person, to ensure all parties are fully aware of updates to support learners and all are following procedures to share any causes of concern.
Supporting ALN interventions: ● Leading review, and/or creation of one-page profiles (OPP’s) ● Assist in the monitoring of learner targets, ensuring all OPP’s have 5 SMART targets.● Analysing contents of IDPs/Statements to make recommendations for required intervention strategies.● Use counselling based training to support social, emotional and mental health needs of learners through R & R (restore and repair) restorative sessions.● Promote positive pastoral strategies across the school. ● Help ensure all staff members use and engage pro-actively with One Page Profiles.● Support staff meeting agenda items related to learner targets. ● Be one of the key members of staff to support challenges with building and sustaining successful relationships.● To provide appropriate support, challenge and information to colleagues regarding the support of ALN.● Co-plan, lead and deliver the PSHE lessons and assemblies ensuring they meet the requirements and needs of the learners.● Supporting colleagues in ensuring learners’ ALP‘s are up-to-date at all times. ● Contribute to in-service training for staff regarding ALN needs. ● Liaise with parents of learners liaising with external agencies including advisory teachers, educational psychology services, health and social services and voluntary bodies for review meetings, when and where necessary● Oversee liaison with learners and their parent/guardians to ensure they understand the learner’s needs, how they are met and, where necessary, advising on information and support available● Liaise with the Exams officer (director) and teachers when seeking reasonable access arrangements and adjustments for examinations.● Work with the Senior Leadership Team to ensure the school is meeting its responsibilities under the Additional Learning Needs and Education Tribunal (Wales) Act (2018), the Additional Learning Needs for Wales Code (2021): The Role of the Additional Learning Needs Co-ordinator Welsh Government Non-Statutory Guidance document and the Equality Act● Engage with meetings and submit relevant paperwork, particularly incidents, to ensure all parties are fully aware of updates focussing on support needed, procedures to follow and sharing any causes of concern.● Any other reasonable duties under the direction of headteacher, directors and/or senior leadership team.
