Role & ResponsibilitiesAs a High-Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA), you will be providing vital support to students with diverse learning needs, including those with PMLD, ASC, MSI, and sensory impairments. You'll work closely with the class teacher, assisting in planning and delivering engaging learning experiences tailored to each student's unique abilities. You will also play a crucial role in creating a positive and supportive classroom environment, fostering positive relationships with students, staff, and families.
Main tasks include- Provide 1:1 and group support to pupils with complex needs.
- Assist in planning and delivering differentiated learning activities.
- Support behaviour management strategies and encourage positive interactions.
- Maintain accurate student records and communicate effectively with parents and professionals.
- Foster positive relationships with students, staff, and families.
- Contribute to a positive and supportive classroom environment.
Requirements
- Enhanced DBS check (child and adult) - must be current or willing to apply for one.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience working in UK schools supporting children with special educational needs.
- Level 3 Teaching Assistant Diploma - essential.
- Experience supporting children with complex needs and/or challenging behaviour.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to providing high-quality support and care for students with additional needs.
- Experience with non-verbal communication strategies is preferred.
- Experience in moving and handling students with physical needs is desirable.
- HLTA qualification or willingness to work towards it is preferred.
