Summary
Although based in London, this role operates across the UK and reports to the Deputy Head of Fraud Defence – Strategy and Prevention.
The successful candidate will manage a team of analysts while leading the professional development of the MOD’s fraud analytical capability. The candidate will spearhead the development of a risk-based fraud and error detection capability utilising new and emerging technologies, including AI/ML and traditional rules-based methods.They will enhance operational and strategic relationships with key stakeholders, identifying appropriate data sharing opportunities to develop analytical approaches to fraud reduction within the MOD.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee the production of comprehensive analytical products to inform decisions on countering fraud and corruption within Defence.
Guide the creation of an advanced technical environment for fraud analytics, ensuring capabilities are adaptable to address evolving threats.
Identify and acquire relevant data sets, implement fraud detection rules, and establish effective processes for consistent data matching.
Deliver trusted analytical and MI products as the definitive source of fraud and corruption information within Defence.
Set and agree on KPIs to demonstrate analytical outcomes to stakeholders.
Provide professional development and support to the Defence fraud analytical community while advancing the Government Counter Fraud Profession.
Represent Fraud Defence in meetings, conferences, and events to raise awareness of fraud-related risks and analytical approaches.
Mentor analysts and provide career development opportunities while supporting collaboration across the Fraud Defence Investigation team.
Drive innovation by applying advanced data analysis techniques and exploring new data sources to solve complex problems.
Present evidence-based recommendations, assess risks, and communicate insights to inform strategic decisions.
Promote high-quality analytical standards, ensuring practices are reproducible, auditable, and efficient.
Build trusted relationships with stakeholders, understand user needs, and deliver timely insights using agile methodologies.
Translate complex analysis into actionable insights for technical and non-technical audiences at all levels.
Monitor developments in data science, analytics, and emerging technologies to adapt best practices for the organisation.
Collaborate across disciplines and departments, contributing to a thriving analytical community and supporting Defence’s strategic goals.
