Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen in our small, friendly client-side estates team for a Buildings Clerk of Works to manage the workmanship, quality, environmental standards and safety of construction activities for a range of building projects, whether new build or refurbishment on our city centre campus. The role holder will play a crucial role in the delivery of high-quality, sustainable construction and refurbishment projects, many funded by the Salix Grant.

As Clerk of Works, you’ll be the on-site eyes and ears of our Project Managers, ensuring that all works meet our standards of safety, quality, compliance, and environmental responsibility. You will work across multiple projects, supervising on-site activities, identifying issues, and ensuring smooth handovers from contractor to university operations. You will need substantial previous experience as a Clerk of Works in buildings, including appropriate professional membership. The successful candidate must be PC literate, have experience with relevant digital reporting applications and be able to communicate effectively with stakeholders and contractors.
