Summary


This post attracts individuals who are new to care. You will receive support to complete the Band 3 competencies and progress into a Band 3 role within 6 months upon successful completion of all required competencies; until then, you will be placed at a Band 2 salary.

Although this position is a 10 months fixed-term contract, the actual contract duration will be adjusted to account for the time taken to advertise the post, complete the hiring process, and finalise pre-employment checks. This means the contract will begin when the candidate starts the role and may be slightly shorter than 10 months.

Newham Univrsity Hospital is looking to recruit a Healthcare Support Worker (HCA) Band 3 who will work Plashet Ward (Gastro)at Newham Univrsity Hospital. This post is open to individuals who are both experienced Healthcare Support Workers or those new to care.

We are looking for compassionate and motivated individuals who are passionate about delivering high-quality, person-centred care in a hospital setting. The role involves undertaking a range of delegated clinical tasks, such as:
• Patient observations (e.g., monitoring vital signs)
• Assisting with personal care and mobility
• Supporting patients’ nutritional and hydration needs
• Undertaking limited range of delegated duties (e.g. taking blood pressure, recording ECG, MRSA screening)
• Simple wound dressings
• Strong teamworking and communication skills are essential to ensure the comfort, wellbeing, and safety of our patients.
• The post holder will be an integral part of the nursing team actively taking part in meeting the needs of patients and of the service in accordance with agreed standards under direct supervision of the registered nurse.
• The post holder will continue to develop essential competencies though training and practice to ensure safety and quality are the priority.

To participate in the orientation of new staff
To develop and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues from other disciplines

To deliver high standards of care to patients, ensuring that a plan of care is agreed and reviewed by a registered nurse
To recognize changes in patients condition and report to a senior nursing colleague
To support nursing staff in providing care for patients and to perform elements of care under the supervision of a registered nurse
Be responsible for accurate observation and recording of patient data
To liaise with nursing colleagues to ensure that patients and relatives are supported and provided with timely and accurate information
