Summary
We are looking for a highly enthusiastic and motivated band 6 Occupational Therapist to join our Adult Services based at Wythenshawe Hospital part of Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT).
The post will be based at Wythenshawe Hospital, a large teaching hospital for Manchester University's Medical School. This is an ideal opportunity for an Occupational Therapist with extensive post-graduate experience who has completed their basic rotations and is now looking to expand their clinical and non-clinical skills.
The post is to cover maternity leave for our front of house Integrated Therapy Team, consisting of Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists. The IAT/OPAL Team work within the areas of; Emergency Department, AMU/OAU (Older Persons Assessment and Liaison) & Clinical Decisions Unit. The team work to a 7 day working rota between the hours of 8.00am and 18.00 pm. There is some flexibility within the rota following discussion with the team leads.
You should be enthusiastic, motivated, dynamic and a team player. Ideally the successful post holder will have experience of community services and Discharge to Assess Pathways. You will be supported by a team leader and you will have opportunities to supervise other team members and students.
Good IT, written and verbal communication skills are essential, as the post holder will be required to liaise with a wide range of health care professional’s from both inpatient and community services areas.
Working with our front of house team of Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapists and Rehabilitation assistants, on AMU, SDEC, ED as part of the wider multi disciplinary team.
Completing therapeutic assessments and treatments.
Discharge planning, ordering essential equipment for discharge and completing referrals to community services to support safe and timely discharges as well as considering future admission avoidance.
Support and supervise junior members of the team and students.
You will be encouraged to work as part of a multidisciplinary team and to participate in training, service development and clinical meetings. A flexible attitude, excellent interpersonal and team working skills are essential.
