Summary

Are you a Chartered Engineer (or working towards chartership) with significant experience in electrical design leadership?

Do you have a proven track record delivering regulated construction projects across the full project lifecycle?

Are you confident managing teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders while ensuring designs meet technical, safety, and compliance standards?

The Opportunity
As a Principal Electrical Engineer, you’ll take a leading role in shaping complex projects, providing expert guidance, and delivering sustainable design solutions that balance technical excellence, cost efficiency, and schedule requirements.

Salary - £70,000 - £75,000 + Car allowance

Your duties and responsibilities will be

- Lead projects within client frameworks, ensuring quality and compliance throughout.
- Carry out audits, feasibility studies, and risk assessments.
- Support bids and tender reviews with technical expertise.
- Manage design subcontracts and oversee detailed electrical design delivery.
- Mentor engineers, driving capability development and operational improvements.
- Provide practical, clear advice to both colleagues and clients.
- Apply your knowledge of design standards and CDM 2015 responsibilities to ensure safe, compliant project outcomes.

You will have the following qualifications & experience:

- Chartered Engineer status, or actively working towards it.
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Proven experience as a Principal Electrical Engineer across multiple industries.
- Strong background in regulated construction projects and end-to-end project lifecycle delivery.
- Expertise in British Standards, CDM 2015 duties, and LV/HV electrical systems.
- Proficiency with design and digital engineering tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, DIALux, and SKM.
- Knowledge of hazardous area design and quality assurance practices.
- A passion for mentoring, leadership, and driving operational efficiency.
