Summary
As an Apprentice Fitness Instructor, you will work alongside qualified fitness
professionals to support the delivery of our health and fitness services. You will
develop the skills and knowledge required to work in a gym environment while
gaining hands-on experience with clients under supervision.
General
Support the delivery of gym inductions and basic health and safety briefings
under supervision.
Assist in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for all clients.
Shadow and support instructors in delivering exercise programmes and group
classes.
Provide basic exercise support and encouragement to clients on the gym floor.
Learn to write and adapt fitness programmes for general populations as part of
training.
Assist in administrative tasks, including client data input and attendance logs.
Support the day-to-day operations of the gym and wellbeing centre.
Communicate effectively and professionally with clients and colleagues.
Demonstrate Westbank’s values of inclusion, empathy, and community
support.
Participate as a team member, contributing to a positive and respectful
working environment.
Uphold health and safety responsibilities and attend relevant training.
Take initiative in learning, development, and self-reflection.
Complete required apprenticeship coursework and assessments within the
agreed timeframe.
Attend in-house training sessions and external learning days as required.
Receive mentoring and coaching from senior fitness staff to build practical skills
and confidence.
Work towards achieving a nationally recognised fitness qualification (e.g. Level
2/3 Gym Instructor).
