The role:

On behalf of a local council, we are seeking a Commercial Lawyer to provide clear, practical, and solution-focused legal advice on a wide range of commercial matters. This will include drafting and negotiating contracts, advising on procurement, partnership and collaboration agreements, construction and development projects, and other key commercial arrangements.

Key Responsibilities may include:

Provide timely, high-quality legal advice on a range of commercial and contractual matters.
Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, procurement documentation, and partnership agreements.
Support major projects including regeneration, development, and service delivery initiatives.
Manage your own caseload effectively, balancing competing priorities.
Build strong working relationships with internal clients, external partners, and stakeholders.



What the client is looking for:

A qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or Chartered Legal Executive (or equivalent) with experience in commercial law, ideally within local government or the public sector.
Strong knowledge of commercial contracts, procurement, and related areas of law.
Excellent drafting and negotiation skills.
A pragmatic, solution-oriented approach with the ability to manage risk effectively.
Strong communication skills and the confidence to advise officers and members.
The ability to work independently while contributing to a supportive team environment
