The role:
This role will lead impactful change communications to support the Council’s Strategic Change Programme, shaping clear and engaging messages that drive cultural and behavioural change. You’ll work with senior leaders and project teams to deliver communications that inspire confidence, secure buy-in, and make complex information simple and accessible for employees, service users and partners. To succeed, you’ll bring proven experience in delivering integrated change communication strategies within large-scale transformation programmes.
Key accountabilities:
Work with Strategic Change Programme workstream delivery teams and senior responsible officers to develop and deliver detailed communication and engagement plans that are synchronised with project plans.
Develop and deliver a programme of cultural change to support the transformation of the Council required to deliver the objectives of the Strategic Change Programme and which is closely aligned with the Organisational Design and Workforce Strategy workstream.
Plan, deliver and monitor effective external and internal communications and engagement to key audiences involved in the Strategic Change programme.
Deliver effective change communications that informs external and internal stakeholders and helps drive the required behavioural change.
Monitor the impact of change communications and engagement and to take the necessary action to deliver or exceed planned improvements and budget savings.
Ensure that project level and programme level change comms is delivered in a timely and effective manner to drive behaviour change based on project requirements, common themes across programme and to provide a clear narrative to frame the Strategic Change Programme .
Key criteria:
Experience in developing and delivering integrated change communication strategies linked to large-scale transformation programmes.
Ability to engage and influence diverse stakeholders to secure buy-in.
Knowledge of cultural and behavioural change best practice and how this is supported through service user and employee communications.
Able to distil complex information into clear and easily understood messages.
Able to persuade and influence project managers and senior executives in selecting communication messages that meet the needs of the organisation.
Excellent writing and copy editing skills - capable of writing clear, simple and engaging messages for diverse groups of service users and employees
Passionate about great employee focused communications that really make a difference.
Internal Communications or Change Communications qualification (desirable)
